Fantastic server.

I personally love this server. It has way quieter than my previous servers and most energy efficient. I had the great opportunity to have this both in my work environment and one that was being tossed in my home lab environment.

What are the pros?

- DDR3 Memory and Xeon E5-2600 series give a major energy efficiency savings over previous generations.
- Ton of RAM slots to make this a compute beast.
- Love me some iLO for management of the machine.
- Plenty of room for upgrading RAM and CPU from the baseline.

Hp Dl380p Gen8 Ram Configuration

What are the cons?

- Baseline came with low CPU count processors
- Baseline has a only 8 SFF drive slots.
- Newer shorter SFF drive trays meant my extra SFF trays from previous generations were no longer compatible.
